A board of directors has been appointed to oversee the work of Wayne Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD).
Amy Wheatly, Karyn Ratcliffe, Michael Gottesman, Andrew Chytrak, Carol Huff, and Matthew Singer will work with town officials in another disaster occurs in town.
Ratcliffe, who is pastor of Packanack Community Church, founded VOAD two years ago in an attempt to organize local relief efforts after Tropical Storm Irene. The grassroots organization is composed of volunteers who mobilize after a disaster has been declared in town. The organization helps to collect donations, cook meals, and take care of residents who are without power. The group was very active in the days following Super storm Sandy.
