Hunger Hurts -- Help Rotary Package 25,000 meals for the hungry on MLK Day

On Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 20, 2014, Rotary District 7490 (Bergen, Passaic and Hudson Counties) needs volunteers to join Rotarian volunteers at the Hope Community Center, 60 Temple Street, Paterson, NJ to package 25,000 Kids Care meals for the most vulnerable children and families in Passaic and Bergen Counties.  Both Dan Shiver, a member of the Paterson AM Rotary Club, and Irma Gorham, a member of the Paterson Great Falls Rotary Club, have been instrumental in organizing the packaging event with Outreach Inc., a non-profit organization from Union, Iowa.  Outreach Inc., established in 2004, has been providing meals to the most vulnerable children and adults around the world.  Kids Care   meals are nutritious and appetizing, while only costing a meager $.25 per serving.   Anyone can make 100 meals available to children in need for $25.00.  With the generosity and compassion of the people in Rotary District 7490’s region (Bergen, Passaic and Hudson Counties), thousands of meals will be packed.  Packaged meals will be donated to CUMAC, a major food pantry in Paterson, as well as to the Center for Food Action in Bergen County for distribution to disadvantaged families.   Everyone is invited to participate in this wonderful opportunity of giving by contributing their time or by giving a monetary donation. Volunteers of any age can sign up at www.rotarydistrict7490.org by December 12, 2013.  Those just wishing to make tax-deductible donations to the event can do so by going to www.endhungerne.org and putting Rotary7490meals in the section for special instructions.  Please contact Irma Gorham at edigorham@aol.com  or fax her at 973-977-9085.to learn more about how you can help. Volunteers must sign up by no later than January 6, 2014.

Rotarians are neighbors, community leaders, and global citizens uniting for the common good. With you, we can accomplish even more.Together we can end hunger and change people’s lives.  For more information on joining a Rotary Club near you, go to www.nynjrotary.org.
