Young Volunteers Help Beautify Arboretum
Teenagers, young adults, help clean up debris and weeds. Laurelwood is home to dozens of kinds of flowers, trees, shrubs, and animals, including butterflies.
A group of seven young volunteers spent a recent hot summer day working side by side with the Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum (FOLA).
The volunteers helped clear weeds and unwanted undergrowth.
The volunteers were attending FOLA’s Career Camp. The program is designed for teenagers and young adults 14 to 21 years old.

The indiviudals are members of Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest (JVS).
“We had a wonderful day,” said Lauren Klein, coordination of rehabilitation services for JVS. “It was great to see campers interacting and working together to help each other.”

Laurelwood Arboretum is a privately-maintained, multi-acre nature preserve. The facility is home to dozens of varieties of flowers, trees, shrubs, plants, and animals, including butterflies.
Volunteers are needed to help beautify and maintain the arboretum on Tuesdays and the first Saturday of every month from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will work in the areas that need the most work on Saturdays.
