The Willowbrook Mall will be closed Monday due to the severe weather threatening North Jersey. Willowbrook lost millions in revenue when it closed for more than a week last year due to Tropical Storm Irene.

Doorways were tightly covered with black tarp and sandbags were tightly packed together to prevent water from seeping into the mall last year.

Christopher Dudley, marketing manager for Willowbrook, told NorthJersey.com Sunday that “preliminary precautions” have been made at the mall in the event that a flood situation occurs there.

Home Goods and TJ Maxx in the Plaza 23 shopping center on Route 23 in Pequannock closed Sunday afternoon in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy’s arrival the website reported. Stores in that plaza were severely flooded and closed for the better part of a year after Irene hit. The A&P in the plaza remains closed.
