Week in Review: Coach Looks To Sell Home, Schools Ban Whole Milk, Flood Conference

Here's what you might have missed this week.

Repair work continues at the Packanack Golf Club months after Hurricane Irene severely flooded the facility last year.

A group of students at Wayne Valley High School wants their peers to take car safety seriously. The group has entered the U Got Brains competition. It is the second consecutive year students from the school have entered the campaign.

Students from throughout the district took to the stage this week and showed their artistic and musical abilities in the annual Wayne Evening with the Arts.

Wayne Hills Football Coach Chris Olsen has put his family’s house up for sale as he faces a July deadline to decide to whether to remain the team’s coach or the school’s athletic director.

District officials have narrowed the number of candidates for the principal position at Anthony Wayne Middle School to two. Superintendent Ray Gonzalez said the individuals will be interviewed this coming week.

The council introduced an ordinance that would create a new traffic pattern on Valhalla Way off of Hamburg Turnpike. Vehicles often use the street to bypass a jughandle on Hamburg. Residents say motorists who do this speed through the quite neighborhood, which is directly across from Schuyler-Colfax Middle School.

The Board of Education approved an updated nutitition policy that bans sugary and fatty foods from being sold in schools.

The main postal office in Wayne will remain open after being removed from a list of potential sites to be studied for closure.

A conference on the potential solutions to problems in the Passaic River Basin will be discussed at William Paterson University in May. Several local, state, and fedreal officails are scheduled to attend the event.
