UPDATE: Massive Brush Fire Rages In Berkeley,…

Volunteers Needed to Help Create Community Garden

Sign up for volunteers will be held on Monday. Work is scheduled to begin in early April.

Residents can sign up to help create the township’s first community garden at the municipal building on Monday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to help create the garden on April 5, 6, and 7 beginning at 8 a.m.

The garden project, spearheaded by sustainability advocate and resident Victor Alfieri, will give residents the chance to grow fresh, organic vegetables and flowers without the use of pesticides.

The garden will be located at the Van Riper-Hopper House museum on Berdan Avenue.

Alfieri successfully fought and won a court case to keep hens on his property. He is also heading up a project to help the local bat population thrive.

For more information, visit Alfieri’s website.

What is involved ? Does it entail physical labor ? Are tools or other resources needed?
Wayne Resident February 21, 2013 at 05:42 PM
Scondo, no labor needed, you just snap your fingers and it's done, jeesh
Victor Alfieri February 21, 2013 at 06:09 PM
If you can do physical labor that would be great. We would need a positive attitude, shovels, wheel barrels, and power drills. I will bring everything else.
Scondo February 21, 2013 at 06:47 PM
It involves a positive attitude, gues that eliminates you WR.
Wayne Resident February 21, 2013 at 07:16 PM
Scondo, involves common sense as in most things in life...somehing you clearly are missing

Count me out, every time I try planting something organic the cops show up. On the other-hand, I never tried the lawn right in front of the court house.
Nose Wayne February 22, 2013 at 02:38 AM
Hey Dummy, the garden is on Berdan Avenue at the Van Riper-Hopper House, not in front of the court house. I NOSE what you been planting.
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 12:58 PM
Wow Nose, are you a former detective? That's great deductive reasoning. Sherlock
Nose Wayne February 22, 2013 at 04:59 PM
NOSE comment Wayne.
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 05:25 PM

Nose Wayne February 22, 2013 at 05:45 PM

Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 05:46 PM
Is that a question or a statement?
Nose Wayne February 22, 2013 at 05:49 PM

They should change the name of Wayne Patch to Wayne Rant. I certainly am as guilty as anybody when it comes to ranting about something.
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 05:54 PM
Well aware of the grammar, however, we are speaking about your deductive reasoning, so why would you ask me who the next mayor will be? I have no idea. But I'm sure your deductive, Nosey powers will enlighten us.
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 05:56 PM
Funny how some poeple tend be know-it-alls. when I am sure in real life, they have had average success at best.
Nose Wayne February 22, 2013 at 06:00 PM
Al, this town leaves itself open to rants.Wayne, want to see a debate first between our Mayor and Francine. After that I will check my crystal ball and give you an answer.
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 06:02 PM
Thank you, in the mean time, please do tell us of any not so obvious observations, I can't wait to hear.
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 06:06 PM
BTW. where is Scondo? He has, um "good" insights as well. If I didn't know any better, I would think Scondo=Nose Wayne=Eyes Wide Shut.
Al Scala February 22, 2013 at 06:20 PM
Nose...I would like to see a debate between our Mayor and this new Mayoral candidate. You certainly have to give this woman some credit for jumping into a venture such as this.
Nose Wayne February 22, 2013 at 06:22 PM
Sorry Wayne, we are 3 different people. I NOSE who Scondo is and I am pretty sure I NOSE who Eyes is.But will never let anyone NOSE who we really are for good reasons, (don't have to mention names)
Wayne Resident February 22, 2013 at 06:23 PM
Of course.
Resident Kelly February 22, 2013 at 08:37 PM
