VOAD to Host Emergency Meeting Wednesday Morning

Personnel will develop an updated plan of action for dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Wayne VOAD will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in health room 2 at town hall.

Personnel will develop a plan to provide hot meals to residents without power.

Food donations and volunteers will be needed to prepare, package, and host residents. Volunteers will not deliver food to homes.

VOAD was to prepare and package food at Our Lady of Consolation, Preakness Reformed, and St. Timothy Lutheran churches but they are without power.

Instead of delivering food to homes, Wayne Police will distribute flyers in neighborhoods without power. Updated information regarding where to go for a shower, charge cell phones and other electronics, and updated shelter locations will be on the flyer.

Showers are available to use at the Police Athletic League on PAL Drive, the Wayne YMCA, and Spa 23 on Route 23 South in Pompton Plains.

The shelter at Kilroy Park on Clove Road is available for anyone who needs it.

VOAD’s Facebook page will be updated when more information becomes available. The organization also has a website and a Twitter account.
