UPDATE: Mountainview Boulevard Closed Due to Flooding

Pompton River overflows onto roadway.

Mountainview Boulevard is closed due to flooding.

Vehicles drove on the street into and out of Lincoln Park Monday afternoon as the Pompton River slowly rose and dumped more water on the roadway. Part of Newark Pompton Turnpike is closed down as well.

Police Chief John Reardon said that the township's emergency rescue and Marine rescue units are on stand-by and ready to be deployed if needed.

Route 23 between Jackson and Alexander Avenues was closed causing major traffic delays in the area.

High tide is forecast to occur at 9:25 p.m. this evening.
