Tuesday is Last Day to Register for Junior Olympics

Events include 50-yard dash and long jump.

Tuesday is the last day to register for the Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships. The olympics will be held Saturday, June 11 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Registrations will not be accepted on Saturday.

There are six divisions in which children can participate: Bantam Boys and Bantam Girls (second and third graders), Midget Boys and Midget Girls (fourth and fifth graders), and Junior Boys and Junior Girls (sixth and seventh graders).

Bantam-level events include: the 40-yard and 75-yard dash, standing long jump, and a softball throw. Midget- and Junior-level events include a 50-yard and 100-yard dash, a running long jump, and a softball throw.

Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers in each event. Each contestant may be entered in three events.

The event will be held at the Wayne Valley High School Football Field.

The rain date is June 18. In the event of inclement weather, call 973-633-4717 for a recorded message with regard to a possible cancellation.
