This Week: Residents Form A New Concerned Citizens Group

Here is a look of what we're working on for Wayne Patch this week.

Here are some of the stories we’re working on this week.

  • A group of residents has formed a new grassroots organization called the Concerned Citizens of Wayne. The group was formed after several burglaries were reported in the township earlier this year.

The group will hold its first education forum at the on Wednesday, March 28.

We’ll give you an overview of the program and speak to individuals who helped found the organization.

  • A special meeting on the Wayne Public School District’s budget will be held at at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. District officials will discuss the budget in its current form.

The school portion of residents’ taxes if the budget, and the lax levy, are approved in their current form.

  • The film “Stone Cold,” a movie about the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol, will be shown at Wednesday, March 21. The screening is being done in conjunction with .

The 30-minute long video depicts teenagers and young adults drinking at a party. A few of them go for a ride and get into an accident, killing an innocent bystander. The film contains some graphic reenactments and is intended for people high-school age and older.

There will be an open forum held after the film is shown. We will attend the screening and let you know what parents, teachers, and students discuss.

  • Scott Summers, an English teacher at Wayne Hills High School, has written a book “Private Hercules McGraw: Poems of the American Civil War.”

The book is collection of poems chronicling McGraw’s transformation from a hardened Confederate solider to a man of peace and compassion.

We’ll tell you about Summers’ book and what inspired him to write him.
