Here are some stories we are working on this week at Wayne Patch.

  • A special Board of Education meeting will be held Thursday, March 10 in the Municipal Complex's council chamber beginning at 7 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the 2011-2012 district budget and, according to a notice on the district Web site, "any other business of the board." We'll attend the meeting and let you know what happens. The district's preliminary tax levy is $127 million.
  • The deadline for candidates to file petitions to run for the school board this year is Tuesday, March 8. We'll let you know who the candidates are in this year's election.
  • The library's board of trustees will meet at the library Tuesday at 7 p.m.. The board is expected to discuss several matters regarding the library's 2011 budget at the meeting. The board is scheduled to go into executive session to discuss personnel layoffs, demotions and contract negotiations. Library employees were issued Rice notices again this week.
