Teacher Publishes Second Civil War Book

S. Thomas Summers' latest work chronicles a Union officer's transformation during the war.

S. Thomas Summers has published his second book, “The Journals of Lt. Kendall Everly: A Story of the American Civil War.”

Summers teaches English at Wayne Hills High School.

Everly is a school teacher and a pacifist but, saddened by the fleeting innocence of his students, embraces the Union’s effort in the war and enlists. The war and its horrors transform Everly into a man he does not know or recognize.
