Will Your Street Be Repaved This Year?

Residents should know by the end of the month whether or not their street will be included in this year's road resurfacing program.

Residents hoping to have the street they live on paved and resurfaced might get their wish this year.

The council introduced an ordinance Wednesday appropriating $2 million for the township’s annual road resurfacing program.

The township should announce what roadways will be worked on by the end of the month. Roads will typically remain open while work is prepared to be done on them, but will be closed on days the work is done.

The council is scheduled to vote on the ordinance at the next council meeting on March 21.

A list of roads selected for this year’s program will be posted on this page on the Wayne Township Web site.

Roads within Wayne are maintained by three government entities depending on which one owns a particular road. The town’s road resurfacing project only applies to town-owned roadways, not ones owned and maintained by Passaic County or the state.

To report potholes or damage to town roads, call Ken Newman, assistant township engineer, at 973-694-1800, ext. 3284. For information on reporting damage to a county- or state-owned road, click here.
