Road Conditions Improving in North End of Town

Lime is available at DPW garage.

Road conditions are improving on the north end of town as the waters recede, but some roads are still closed.

Route 46 East from Fairfield is closed. Route 46 West has some water on it, but was passable as of 4 p.m. Friday. Route 23 North and South near Little Falls is closed.

Pompton Plains Crossroads reopened today.

The state Department of Transportation hopes to have some lanes on Route 23 in Pequannock this evening and all lanes open sometime Saturday morning.

The Passaic River is expected to crest 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Wayne Township shelter at Kilroy Park is open and will be until at least Sunday. Volunteers there are serving three meals a day. Showers there are available for public use.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is collecting debris in flood-impacted areas. The DPW will continue to work Saturday and Sunday and will move back into flooded areas once floodwaters recede.

Lime is available for pick up at the DPW garage from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Wayne Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters will continue to prepare meals at the Preakness Reformed Church from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. Meals will be delivered to Ryerson Elementary School for pickup and will be delivered to flood victims’ homes.
