Resident Planning Halloween Party for Flood Victims

Event is Sunday, Oct. 30.

Some residents of Ryerson Avenue and the surrounding area are still not still back in their homes.

One resident, Yesenia Pucheta, is organizing a Halloween party for area residents and their families, especially children.

"It's just a chance to have some fun," Pucheta said. "We need a distraction from everything that's been going on in the last month and a half."

The party will be held at the American Legion Post 174 on Mountainview Boulevard from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday Oct. 30.

Pucheta is in need of several items for the party, including: decorations, new or gently-used costumes, plastic utensils, and candy.

Cake, cup cakes, juice, water, soda, and hot and cold food, including appetizers, and arts and crafts supplies are also needed.

A disc jockey and clown are needed for entertainment.

A food drive will also be held during the party. Pucheta and her neighbors want to donate at least 50 baskets of Thanksgiving food to residents.
