'Real Housewives': Trust Issues Cause Rift Between Giudice, Laurita

A friendly chat between Giudice and Laurita quickly turns angry.

This week’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey” episode went right back to what the show does best: drama, fighting and lots and lots of screaming.

The Wakiles and the Gorgas took almost a complete back seat as Jacqueline Laurita, of Franklin Lakes, decided to finally confront Teresa Giudice, a Towaco resident, about the numerous tabloid covers that have featured her over the course of the season. Laurita discussed her worries with husband, Chris.

“Jacqueline’s hurt,” Chris said. “I’m very worried because she expects everyone to be as good of a person as she is and that doesn’t always happen.”

“Listen, I’m not a therapist but just ask her,” he said to his wife. “Eventually, the truth comes out, right?”

Laurita asked Giudice to come over. When her friend arrived, Laurita started out by saying she feels she has always been a good friend to her, and she worries when she sees things in the press that she never hears about in real life.

“This is scary Teresa,” Laurita said. “There are quotes in here from your attorney saying you could go to jail.”

Giudice denied any wrongdoing and that she is putting the articles out there, despite telling Laurita last week that she does answer questions and do cover stories for various magazines. She seemed annoyed that Laurita would “dare” ask her about such things.

“Do I ask you how do you make your money?” she asks. “No, do I?”

The conversation soon devolves into a lot of pent up anger Laurita has towards Giudice. She said she is upset Giudice she never asks her about how she is doing or how her relationship with Ashlee is progressing.

“If you want to talk to me about her; talk to me,” Giudice said, by way of defense. “I’m not going to pry into your business.”

Laurita reiterated that she is not trying to pry into Teresa’s business but is genuinely afraid for her.

“I don’t know if Jacqueline’s crazy, if Jacquline’s psycho, something’s going on with Jacqueline,” Giudice said. “She’s looking sad one minute, she’s attacking me the next. She’s like Hekyll and Jyde!”

In an abrupt change of subject, Jacqueline said: “I saw on Twitter last night that Teresa was actually tweeting Danielle [Staub], knowing .”

Two seasons ago (a year to a year-and-a-half in real time), Ashlee Laurita and Staub got into a physical altercation, but it is hard to know why Jacqueline Laurita was speaking in present tense. As Laurita said, bringing up Staub was a “blast from the past.”

According to the Tweets presented on the show, Staub tweeted Giudice's sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, of Montville, asking if she had ever told Giudice that they had been in contact. Giudice re-Tweeted, saying she was not surprised.

“What made you hate me that much that you would Tweet someone who hates me that much?” Laurita asked.

Giudice maintained that she was not doing it to hurt Laurita, but because Staub had proof that she and Gorga had conspired to “bring me down.” It’s unclear why she believes Staub, at whom she once infamously flipped a table, would do such a thing.

Laurita has a theory.

“Clearly she’s using Danielle to expose Melissa,” she said. “I don’t think she likes when people like Melissa.”

Laurita tried yet again to get Giudice to see that she is harboring resentment towards the Gorogas. Only this time she does it at a much higher register.

“If you didn’t do anything, why are they so bitter?” she asked.

“Why? Freaking jealousy, why do you think?” Giudice practically shrilled.

And then, almost as if someone had called her to tell her what was going on, Caroline Manzo walks in with a thinly veiled excuse about bringing over baby clothes and calmly asked, “Why are you screaming?”

“I feel ambushed,” Giudice said.

They go back to the subject of magazines, except this time Manzo dominated the conversation.

“Teresa, you slammed me in it,” she said. “You didn’t have the time or the decency to tell me about it.”

Laurita is clearly frustrated that her sister-in-law has made this discussion about her.

“No one’s listening to me, as usual, and I feel like I have a lot to say,” she said.

She then tells them both to shut up so she can finish her thought and shows Giudice how she may have handled the situation differently by having a mock conversation with Manzo. But the fight continues to be about Giudice and Manzo, going back to the cookbook that was originally brought up in Season 3. Manzo maintains that she and her children were insulted in it, but she also claims her dislike of Giudice is not about that.

“It’s so inconsequential in the mess that is me and Teresa. For years she’s been trying to poison my family member’s minds against me,” she said.

“In the back of my head, I knew Caroline was going to turn on me,” Teresa said. “She turned on her own sister. Of course, who cares about their friend?”

Manzo reiterated she is no longer friends with Giudice, nothing new to anyone, except apparently Giudice.

Then comes the more highly anticipated breakup, hinted at since the Season 3 reunion.

“I don’t want to fight with you Teresa,” Laurita said. “I’m trying to open your eyes to something I don’t think you’re seeing. For my health, I’m going to distance myself from you and your family.”

“I feel like I’m going through a friendship divorce,” Giudice said. “It’s sad. I definitely thought Jacqueline and I were going to grow old together as friends. I never in a million years thought she’d turn on me. it’s sad. It’ll just never be the same.”

Despite the weight of her statement, Laurita still kissed Giudice goodbye and said she knows she was harsh. She seemed to want to go on, but Giudice did not let her finish her thought.

“There are evil people out there and sometimes they come in the shape of your friends,” Giudice said.

The final end to the Giudice-Laurita relationship is hinted to come next week, when something causes Laurita to say “I lost a best friend tonight” in the previews.

The show airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on Bravo.
