There is no power at Ryerson Elementary School, according to Fran Cook, president of the school's Parent Teacher Organization.
Cook also said the building has water in it.
Cook said that John Maso, facilities manager for the Wayne School District, said that the building is on a fire safety watch until power is restored.
Maso could not be reached for comment.
Cook said PSE&G has informed the district that multiple transformers in the area have blown. Cook also said there is a large tree blocking the entrance path to the back parking lot.
Teachers and staff workers should not go into the building.
The ice cream social scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled.
