Wayne Police are investigating a dozen burglaries that occurred in the Valley section of town in recent weeks. The burglaries took place between April 25 and May 30,  reported. There were also a few attempted burglaries in the same time frame.

and Wayne students outperform their state counterparts on standardized tests, including the SAT, school report cards show. The state Board of Education released the report cards this week.

A Franklin woman hid 30 bags with heroin in them in her bra. She removed the bags from her bra during a traffic stop Wayne police conducted recently.

Residents tried to protect their quality of life by speaking out against the new Monarch Diner being allowed to have outdoor seating. The residents complained about the then-possible move to the council recentlly.

Christian Rowe received the district’s only V Award this year.

Rowe, a student at , received an honorable mention for his game coverage of Wayne Hills vs. Hackensack High School. The awards honored the best in student media production in the tri-state area. Hills will receive a $1,000 grant from MSG Varsity.

A man riding a motorcycle was taken to the hospital with what police described as “severe head trauma” after getting hit by a car Saturday at Route 23 South and Interstate 80 East, Wayne police said.

 

Law enforcement officials issued more than 350 summonses to local drivers this weekend who were caught not wearing their seat belts.

The summonses were issued as part of an initiative conducted by the Passaic County Aggressive Driving Task Force to promote safe driving during the Memorial Day weekend.
