Police Escort Assembly Candidate from Meeting

William Brennan: "I'll just be back in two weeks."

Police escorted William Brennan from a council meeting Wednesday after he attempted to respond to comments Councilman Joseph Scuralli made about him during the meeting.

One of the things Scuralli spoke about was a lawsuit Brennan filed against the township regarding former environmental commission chairman Jerry Bello.

Brennan's suit stated that Bello should not have been allowed to serve on the commission because he was convicted of official misconduct in 1994. Bello allegedly took bribes while he was chairman of the Paterson Improvement Authority. Bello from the commission in early September.

Brennan approached the podium twice to respond to Scuralli's comments, but police escorted him out of the building after the second time. Scuralli represents Wayne's Fourth Ward. Brennan is running against incumbent Assemblyman Scott Rumana, a Republican, in the District 40 election.

"I'll just be back in two weeks," Brennan said as police escorted him out of the building.
