Pedestrian Seriously Hurt After Accident on Mountain View Blvd

Police looking for information about incident.

Police are looking for information regarding an accident Sunday night. in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Mountain View Blvd.

Michael Payne, 54, of Belleville, was stuck by a 2008 Dodge driven by Nicholas Edie, 19, a township resident, Capt. James Clarke said.

Payne was walking on Mountain View at 8:20 p.m., while Edie was traveling north in the right lane when the Payne was struck, Clarke said.

Payne was unconsciousness when emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, Clarke said.

He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson with "serious" injuries. Police did not elaborate on the extent of Payne's injuries.

The Wayne Police Department's Traffic Bureau and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are conducting an investigation, police said.
