Passaic River Expected to Crest at Second-Highest Level Ever

Shelter set up at Bergen Community College.

The National Weather Service is predicting that the Passaic River will crest at its second highest level in recorded history at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

has set up as a temporary shelter for residents. 

Evacuees should take at least a five-day supply of clothes and medication with them. Pets are welcome to go as well, but residents must provide them with a carrier, food and, if available, vaccination records. The college is located at 400 Paramus Road in Paramus.

The Passaic crested at 11.8 feet in March. It's highest recorded level ever was 17.5 feet in 1903.
