Superfund Site Removed from National List

Federal and state officails announced the removal of a 6-acre site in town from the federal National Priorities List. W.R. Grace & Co. processed ore and buried much of the waste material on the site from 1948 to 1971. The site was declared remediated in 2001.

Police Continue to Investigate Burglaries

Police continue to investigate three burglaries that occurred on Langdale Road during a 12-hour span on Saturday, Sept. 22. Dresser drawers in all of the homes were found open and appeared to be sifted through.

Software Used to Track Down Alledged Burglars

Tracking software on a stolen computer led authorities to a pair of thieves who allegedly burglarized a Cedar Lane home this week. Kevin Allegrino, 20, of Bloomingdale, and Michael Moratto, 19, of Riverdale, were each charged Tuesday with third-degree burglary and theft.

Former Football Player's Hearing Postponed

Andrew Monaghan was scheduled to appear in municipal court Tuesday but the hearing has been postponed until Oct. 9.

Monaghan is one of the nine Hills football players charged with two counts of aggravated assault stemming from an incident at a party last October. He was the only adult at the time the charges were filed in November.

Quarterback Named to National Team

Star quarterback Kevin Olsen received his jersey for the 2013 Under Amour All-America Game sponsored by American Family Insurance. Olsen is one of the top-ranked quarterbacks in the country. He credited his family, especially his father and coach Chris, and teammates for their support.
