Police Chief John Reardon and school district administrators have decided to cancel Halloween festivities Monday, including trick or treating.
The police department sent out a message informing residents of the decision Sunday night.
The message said officials said the decision was made due to the unsafe conditions that still exist in town due to Hurricane Sandy.
There are still hundreds of downed trees and power lines are strewn across township roads.
The message said that "there are no plans to reschedule the event."
Governor Chris Christie postponed Halloween activities for Oct. 31 due to Hurricane Sandy. He rescheduled them statewide for Monday.
Local officials cancelled Halloween shortly before Christie postponed activities across the state.
