NJ Transit Expands Quiet Car Program to Main, Bergen, and Pascack Lines

Rollout to begin June 1.

NJ Transit said Wednesday that it will add "Quiet Commute" cars to all peak-period trains to and from the Hoboken Terminal.

The program, which will include the Main, Bergen and Pascack Valley lines, will offer quiet cars on trains that arrive in Hoboken between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., and those which depart the station between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m..

“Quiet Commute has received a very positive response so far, and we look forward to hearing from customers on our remaining lines who will soon be able to experience Quiet Commute for themselves," NJ Transit Executive Director James Weinstein said.

The designated car will be the first car on trains to Hoboken and the last car on trains from Hoboken.

NJ Transit launched a pilot quiet car program in Sept. 2010 on its Northeast Corridor trains. It expanded the program in January to include peak-period trains that begin or end their trips at New York Penn Station and Newark Penn Station.
