Little Trunk or Treaters Celebrate Halloween After All

Impromptu event held at the Wayne YMCA Wednesday afternoon.

Hundreds of little trick or treaters and their parents filled the Wayne YMCA parking lot on Wednesday afternoon for a special Trunk or Treat event.

Dozens of Wayne parents passed out all kinds of sweet treats out of the back of the minivans and cars.

Attendees were eager to get out of their homes and enjoy some time with their families.

"We needed this, no doubt about it," said Kathy O'Rourke, who was at the event with her children. "This whole area has been through a lot this week. It's nice just to enjoy some time with each other."

Town officials cancelled trick or treating on Wednesday due to concerns regarding public safety.

Governor Chris Christie postponed Halloween activities, including trick or treating, throughout the state until Monday.

What is your point?

My point WAYNE DAD is that I thought because of the executive order that all Halloween related events throughout the state were not "allowed" to take place on Halloween Day that's all. I don't have power in my house since Monday night so no working landline or tv to get info from... Just Internet through my mobile devices (that I'm keeping charged in my car) and, based on the info I was able to gather, I thought everything, everywhere in NJ Halloween Day related events was postponed. But if there was a community based Trunk-n-Treat by the Y --- GREAT! The kids (and parents alike) needed sometime out of the house after all the chaos & destruction caused hurricane Sandy. ---Someone in the A&P on Valley told me about it and I would have taken my son had I'd known it was still permitted to take place after Christie signed the executive order---
