Kevin Olsen Nominated To Play In Prestigious All-American Bowl

Sought-after quarterback one of 400 nominees tapped to play. The final rosters will be announced in the fall.

Nationally-recruited quarterback Kevin Olsen was offered the opportunity to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January, NorthJersey.com reported on Friday.

More than 400 football players from across the country are nominated to play in the annual game. The final rosters for the East and West teams will be announced in the fall.

Olsen’s brother Greg played in the game in 2003.

The invitation is the latest feather in the star player’s cap. The sought-after quarterback was also recently named the of the New York City Elite 11 regional competition last month. Olsen will compete in the Elite 11 Finals this July in California.

Olsen also met with G.A. Mangus, the quarterbacks coach of the University of South Carolina’s (USC) football team, according to goupstate.com. USC is reportedly high on Olsen’s list of potential collegiate suitors. He is reportedly scheduled to meet with representatives from the University of Miami this week. Olsen’s brother Greg, a tight end with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, also played for Miami.

Olsen’s father and coach Chris said that his son’s decision on where he play collegiately would be announced soon.

The star player is one the most sought-after high school quarterbacks in the country. He is one of the top ten pocket passers and threw for 20 touchdowns last season. He also led his team down the field on the game-winning drive of the Patriots’ state-championship game last December.

He has reportedly received offers to play collegiate football from several high-profile Division I schools.

Olsen that he would not play this upcoming season if his “father, coach, and best friend,” does not coach the team.

Chris Olsen will not return as Hills’ athletic director next season. The Board of Education announced it would the eight-time state championship winning coach’s contract to remain in that capacity at the school.

The board announced a new policy in January from coaching sports teams.

The move is one of many in a involving the school district’s reorganizing of its administrators. Chris Olsen told NorthJersey.com last week that he wants to be on the sidelines when his son takes the field this fall to defend its championship.
