UPDATE: Massive Berkeley Brush Fire Nearly…

Nearly 1,500 Wayne JCP&L Customers Still Powerless

Utility company had hoped to restore power to 450 homes on Thursday.

Jersey Central Power & Light will send 12 work crews into Wayne on Thursday, officials said.

Mayor Chris Vergano said he spoke to personnel at the utility company at 7:15 a.m. Thursday. He said the company's goal is to restore power to 450 homes.

Residents have been highly critical of the utility company. Some customers have been without power for 10 days.

According to JCP&L's outage map, 1,447 outages remained in Wayne—nearly 50 percent of the utility company's customers in town—as of Friday morning at about 6 a.m.

I have been out of power since Last Monday 7PM. I signed the petition and contacted Restore my Electirc . I also watched the Board meeting from a friends home. I feel it important that we mention Don Lynch Principle Executive of JCP&L name as many times as possible because he is responsible for his organizations lack of responsiveness. This has been a nightmare

Off lakeside ave wayne nj trucks from Illinois came fixed transformer. BUT NO POWER SO COLD. AND NOW GOV SAYING SUNDAY???? We should have free power for 3 months!
Tito S. November 09, 2012 at 12:16 PM
We are also on Terhune and still have no power. It looks like they fixed the transformer and power lines but.....we have no power. We also got a phone call last night at 10:30 saying that Pines Lake Elementary would be closed on Friday because JCP&L had just informed the super intendant that the power would be interrupted all day. How are parents supposed to work? This is shameful!!!
Jack Q November 09, 2012 at 12:57 PM
Tree still laying on power lines and power line down on Black Oak this morning.
Felice Gioino November 09, 2012 at 12:58 PM
I have yet to see one utility truck from JCP&L on fairmount road. The damn transformer is still sitting in the same spot where it fell Tuesday night 10/30. How in the hell will they have power restored by Sunday when they need to add utility poles? Getting tired of this, i have kids, no food..when will this be resolved?!?!?!

You should of never switched to them in the first place, PSE&G may cost more but gets the job done.

Has nothing to do with switching. That's who runs the power in that area. Get your facts straight before you make an asinine, uninformed post.

Good call Sunflwr. Communications Director for Wayne Republican Party of the People.

I'll second that one. JCPL owes us big time. I've been w/o heat/power since 630pm 10/29 near Black Oak. Never see a damn JCPL truck anywhere let alone anyone from out of state. Seen a few PSEG trucks but they are just randomly parked on streets that have power and I never see anyone in them. And what the hell is up with Cablevision trucks everywhere? Unless you can help the utility guys fix stuff get the hell out. No one needs their precious cable and internet while others are still suffering in the dark and cold.

First thanks to the mayor, town council and assemblyman Rumana for all you did to advocate for the town. J.C.P.L. has to go!!!!!!!!!! Last night on Terhune 12 trucks and what happens???? They trip the system and all of Pines Lake area goes black again!!!!!!!!!!! Some homes did come back up but many did not Something is wrong with their system and it has to be fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel for the folks on Beech Ter. They were out since the storm, had power for 10 minutes and then back into the dark. Just not right!!!!!!!!!!! I say all Wayne J.C.P.L. customers should make a trip to their headquarters in Morristown , with the press, and say enough is enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe with us all in a large group something might change. Too many people since the storm with no power. J.C.P.L. it is just not right!!

Thanks Jack Q!

Like last year JCP&L just throws people in here (not blaming the workers) with no plan. Woefully inadequate supervision, And no communication to let people know what's going on. Why are we surprised ? This is exactly what they did last year, only worse. And those who have the responsibility to hold them accountable did very little to change their approach. What changes did they make from last year? And here we are. Helpless cold and out of patience.
Jack Q November 09, 2012 at 03:30 PM
Just went on JCP&L website. Says power outages down to 748 from over 1400 this morning. Anyone know someone who got power this morning?
Robert Pignatello November 09, 2012 at 03:46 PM
For those of you who want to give the politicians around here a free pass, go to nj.com today and look at how Morris county officials at every level are blasting JCP&L regardless of party affiliation. Why that is not happening here is astounding.
wyldthang18 November 09, 2012 at 03:56 PM
Yeah i would like to know if i still have to worry about someone robbing my house tonite because my friggin security system doesn't work.
Jack Q November 09, 2012 at 04:19 PM
Now JCP&L says outages down to 632. Can anyone confirm their power restored? Robert, the only one who has come out and down anything is Scott Rumana and Mayor Vergano. County officials have been grossly quiet.
Robert Pignatello November 09, 2012 at 04:35 PM
That seems to be the case. They all should be passing resolutions condemning jcpl. They should be speaking for us. thats what seems to be happening in morris county. Unfortunately for all of us much of these financial losses are not covered by our insurance. And yes there are other fellow citizens in nj who have lost much more than we have. We can't forget that.
Beth November 09, 2012 at 04:47 PM
Beech Terrace (about 25 homes) got power this morning Well, they kind of got power last evening for an hour but then it went out again taking other homes in the area along with them...so in other words JCPL went backwards for a day
Jack Q November 09, 2012 at 04:58 PM
Great news! Hopefully it will stay on this time. Anywhere else get power?
Jack Q November 09, 2012 at 04:59 PM
Wayne Township has a petition going to revoke JCP&L's franchise in Wayne. Go to the township website and sign up. Get your friend, too.
Jack Q November 09, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Latest from JCP&L: Now there are 652 outages and here is what pops up when you click on the Wayne map: "The majority of customers that do not have power, including those that experienced new outages as a result of Wednesday's Nor¿easter, will have power restored by Saturday evening, November 10. Some communities will have their power restored by Sunday evening, November 11, where our line forces must replace the service wire to their homes. Devastated areas, including areas of the Barrier Islands, where we were not able to begin service restoration until recently, will extend into next week." Can someone tell me where the Barrier Islands in Wayne are? So much for accurate information.
Robert Pignatello November 09, 2012 at 05:59 PM
You really can't plan based on their double talk. By all means everyone should sign the petition.
Robert Pignatello November 09, 2012 at 06:43 PM
If you are like us you received in the mail today your bill from your friendly neighborhood utility company JCP&L. Return to sender. What nerve.
