Health Department Offering Heart, Cancer Screenings This Week

Screenings include a blood pressure reading, prostate exam, and cholesterol report.

Residents can take advantage of two screenings offered this week by the Wayne Health Department.

  • A male cancer screening will be held at Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This comprehensive screening will consist of a blood pressure reading, urinalysis, a prostate exam, and a fecal occult blood test. Health education materials and counseling will be available.

The screening costs $25. A prostate specific antigen test is available for another $28.

Appointments are required to get a screening.

  • A heart health screening will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

The screening includes a blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose screenings and a body fat analysis.

Fasting is recommended for accurate results.

Call the health department at 973-694-1800, ext. 3241 to schedule an appointment.

Both screenings will take place at the Wayne Health Department in the municipal building on Valley Road.

The screenings are being conducted in partnership with Chilton Hospital.
