In an attempt to recruit more volunteers, Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum (FOLA) is planning a Volunteer Kickoff day at Laurelwood on Saturday, April 7.
The event begins at 9 a.m.
From April 10 through October, volunteers are needed to help beautify and maintain the arboretum. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays and the first Saturday of every month from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will work in the areas that need the most work on Saturdays.
There are a number of bridges and paths, and a greenhouse, to maintain. Gardeners are also needed to help beautify the property.
Volunteers are also needed to help with fundraising efforts and membership development.
“Volunteerism is the lifeblood of Wayne’s 30-acre horticultural treasure,” said Deb Bryant, FOLA’s volunteer coordinator. “There is always work to do, something new to learn, and someone new to meet.”
The arboretum is located at 725 Pines Lake Drive West.
