Fire Displaces Brooklawn Apartment Residents

Fire officials attempting to determine cause of blaze.

A fire broke out in a second-floor apartment in the Brooklawn Garden Apartment complex shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Wayne Fire Commissioner Barry Turner said the "heavy" fire broke out and caused "extensive" damage to the apartment, which is now uninhabitable. There was also minor smoke and water damage to the apartment directly underneath the upstairs one.

Turner said fire officials are attempting to determine what caused the fire. He also said that as of approximately 4 p.m. no one he knew of was injured.
