Donation Account Set Up for Injured Officer's Recovery

Residents can donate online to help fund Bob Franco's recovery and his family. His family has set up a Facebook page for residents to express their thoughts and prayers.

Community members continue to raise money for Officer Robert Franco and his family.

Franco, a Wayne police office and firefighter, suffered a severe spinal cord injury when a tree fell on the patrol car he was in during Hurricane Sandy last week.

Franco is recovering at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. He has limited mobility and cannot walk.

Donations can now be can be made online through PayPal. The Wayne Policemen Benevolent Association Local 136 set up the account. To donate electronically, click here.

Franco’s cousin Tyler set up a Facebook page where relatives and friends can leave messages of encouragement, thoughts, and prayers for Franco and his family.

On Nov. 15 between 4 and 10 p.m., Fairway Market in Woodland Park will donate 25 percent of the sales to Franco’s recovery effort and his family.

Danielle Hassenbein and Hara O’Dowd ran a marathon in the Packanack Lake section of town on Sunday to raise money for Franco and his family.
