Council Bonds $738K For 2 New Firetrucks

Mini pumpers will help firefighters extinguish fires in small spaces.

The town will bond $738,000 to purchase two new fire trucks for .

The trucks, which are mini-pumpers, will replace older fire trucks, one of which had to be decommissioned because of ongoing repairs.

The trucks will allow the department to fight fires in tight spaces such as parking garages, said Fire Commissioner Barry Turner.

The multipurpose vehicles could also be used for other things like towing rescue boats, Turner said.

The trucks are expected to cost $775,000.
