Council Bonds $450,000 for New Ambulance

New vehicle will replace 2001 apparatus.

The town council approved bonding $450,000 Wednesday to purchase a new ambulance to bolster the Wayne Volunteer First Aid Squad's fleet of emergency vehicles.

"It is definitely needed," said Stuart Steinberg, the squad's chief. "We probably should have purchased one a year or two ago, but we're happy we're finally getting it."

The new vehicle will be a 2012 model. It is replacing an ambulance that has accumulated approximately 146,000 miles since it was put into service in 2001.
