Nose, as you know, this school would most probably be exempt from property taxes, as is William Paterson (along with the property taxes for the home that the President of William Paterson lives in on Brandon). There is so much property in the township that is exempt from property taxes.

Don't forget the wonderful "County Of Passaic" !!!

I thought Pioneer Academy was moving to Denville?? http://www.northjersey.com/news/159973405_Pioneer_Academy_of_Science_leaving_Clifton.html

Nose, Please verify that the Sheriff's complex on Hamburg Tpk is also exempt? I could check it myself, but the computer is slow right now.
Nose Wayne July 23, 2012 at 04:18 PM
Yes, That and P.C.T.I., Preakness Healthcare, Old Prosecutors Office on Church Lane by the jughandle, Old Nike Base now occupied by the County, and who can forget our County Golf Course,Police and Fire Academy on Oldham Road, and the Old Serv Building A and B next to the Fire Academy that was recently torn down and DONATED to the Quarry for some kind of deal. Think that is all of them.

Tax exemptions to businesses are nothing new. Not that I agree with them. Town usually look at the other businesses that would benefit from larger companies moving in. Don't understand what the hold up could be? Is this a second chance school?
Paul Walters 4th Ward July 23, 2012 at 07:08 PM
I was there the night that loud mouth pompous councilman blowhard Scuralli would not let the parents speak regarding this issue. One week later there was a lawsuit and of course they won. No surprise there. Scuralli “I’m a republican morning, noon, and night” you know what else your are morning, noon, and night? A liability to this town. You need to keep your mouth shut. Maybe you can save this town money in litigation.
Al Scala July 23, 2012 at 07:54 PM
Paul....thank you. Scuralli is everything you say and more. He's arrogant, abrasive, obnoxious and a horse's rear end. This man has absolutely no people skills.
the dude July 23, 2012 at 08:01 PM
Little Joe won by a landslide against a very impressive and legitimate challenger. The vast majority of 4th Ward voters obviously like his style and think that he's doing the right thing. Sorry that you disagree, but please be advised that you are in the minority.
Nose Wayne July 23, 2012 at 08:08 PM
Chickens, Windmill, School ? Who can guess what all these have in common ?
Al Scala July 23, 2012 at 08:48 PM
dude.....I'm certainly not going to argue with you as I don't live in his ward and not familiar with his standing in same. I'll take your word for it. Notwithstanding, his people skills leave much to be desired. I've watched both in person and on TV his arrogant, abrasive style, which frankly turns my stomach. He is little in persona and that's why he talks big. This is where we have a problem in our form of government. I'd like to see a change in our form of gov't wherebye if you run for Council, you have to run town wide and not be elected by a restricted district or ward. He may certainly appeal to people within his district. I'm not sure how he would appeal to people town wide. He is a little man in persona, probably insecure as well.

Not a clue. Enlighten us. LOL
Al Scala July 23, 2012 at 09:02 PM
If the above article is true and correct, it again shows the incompetence in this town and in its government officials. The town argued that the school did not have the proper paperwork submitted before the prohibitive ordinance was approved. A Superior Court Judge after reviewing the application ruled that the school had all the proper documentation in order when it submitted it's application. Just like the chicken case, the town simply did not know what it's talking about. What else is new!Their incompetence is clear!
stewart resmer July 23, 2012 at 09:03 PM
Yes Mr Walters and look how it has turned out, the court rebuked the township, and the 4th ward voters are most responsible for electing him? Arent you glad you are in the minority on this one?
Nose Wayne July 23, 2012 at 09:08 PM
Justice,How much do you think this one will cost us ?
Justice July 23, 2012 at 09:41 PM
Nose, Waaaaaaaaaaaaay Toooooooooooo Much. The loss of property taxes to begin with. Although that whole system really needs to be revised. Otherwise, I will call myself a church/school/Pres of William Paterson to avoid paying property taxes. Litigation costs depends on how much fee-building the anointed ones want to do to prevent this school. Finally, whatever judgement is awarded for discrimination, etc, The list goes on and on and on.

Roland Proulx aka the dude. shouldnt you be out by the mail box waiting for your 101 yr old mother in laws social security check to pay for your rent and food, instaed of trolling here? Cause lord knows you havent held a job in over 30 years or more?
Al Scala July 23, 2012 at 09:42 PM
Unfortunately, we have him for at least 3 more years. It's going to be a long three years. By the way, I heard he is thinking of making a run for Mayor next year.
stewart resmer July 23, 2012 at 09:46 PM
Tonights meeting should be very intersting in light of the fact that the council has been overuled by the court. Think what a spot that puts the members of the planning board who were hand picked and appointed by this council to begin with? I am dying to see the faces of the very many people from this group who were abused by not just scularri but the entire council now that they have the law on their side going through the door tonight!
Paul Walters 4th Ward July 23, 2012 at 10:23 PM
It will pass with flying colors.......
the dude July 23, 2012 at 11:33 PM
Turning a commercial ratable into a tax-exempt religious institution is bad for the township...and it will cause homeowners' taxes to rise. All efforts by our elected and appointed officials to stop this plan are in our best interests. Most voters realize that, and appreciate the effort...that's why our mayor and council keep getting elected by landslides. If Little Joe does run for mayor, he'll probably win.
Nose Wayne July 23, 2012 at 11:53 PM
Justice, did you get my list of all the county properties we get nothing for ?
