Fundraiser for Injured Police Officer Ends Soon

Lincoln-Wayne Car Wash donating a portion of sales of gift cards to Officer Bob Franco and his family.

A Wayne business owner and his family are running a fundraising drive this month to help Officer Bob Franco and his family.

Lincoln-Wayne Car Wash will donate 20 percent of the sale from gift cards worth $25 or more to Franco and his family.

Franco, a Wayne police officer, was severely injured when a tree fell on the car he was in while on patrol during Superstorm Sandy. Franco needed a lot of assistance to get around and needed someone to hold a telephone for him to talk at first but has been steadily recovering since.

Jack Sadlon and Sherrie Bradley, the husband and wife who own the car wash, will give the money they collect to Kevin Hughes. Hughes, a student at Wayne Valley High School, will then give the money to the Franco family.  They could not be reached for comment Monday.

When the couple heard what Hughes did, they contacted him and told him they wanted to help.

“I’m glad we can keep this going. I’m really happy and it’s great that we’re able raise even more money,” Hughes said.

Hughes ran his own fundraiser for the Franco family last month. He sold hundreds of candy canes to teachers and students at Wayne Valley. Family members and friends also made donations. He raised more than $1,000.

The promotion will be held throughout January. The car wash is located at 200 Mountainview Boulevard. It is open Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 973-305-8998 or e-mail info@wcarwash.com.
