Boil Water Notice Rescinded

Water is safe to be consumed.

The boil water notice issued earlier in the week was lifted Thursday.

The notice was because of a broken water main on Hamburg Turnpike between Valley Road and Leonard Terrace.

The surrounding water mains were disinfected and flushed, the notice states, and water samples were collected Wednesday.

“Test results show that the water is safe to be consumed,” the notice states.

Businesses near the water main had to purchase bags of ice to serve with drinks.

“Numerous properties lost water due to the break and the resulting widespread drop in water pressure,” a notice the town issued on Thursday stated.

The main was repaired and water service was restored within a few hours.

Residents living on nearby streets were strongly urged to boil their water before drinking or cooking with it as a precaution.
