VOAD to Help Residents Replace Spoiled Food

Volunteer group will provide money to residents to purchase food who have been without power for more than four days.

Residents living in homes that were without power for more than four days can apply for assistance from Wayne Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) to help replace food that spoiled in their refrigerators.

VOAD is a resident-run assistance group that helps out other residents during and after emergencies.Assistance will be provided on the basis of economic hardship and length of power outage, with special consideration given to families with children and those on a limited income.

Application must be received by Friday, Nov. 16. After that date, a determination will be made regarding how much each household will receive based upon available funds and the number of applicants.
