Are Buyouts the Answer to Flooding?
It's spring, and once again, dozens of homes in Wayne are damaged by floodwaters.
The township is in the process of properties in the Hoffman Grove section of Wayne.
Homeowners must be given fair-market value for their property. This area of Wayne is usually the first to flood and last to dry out.
Although the township will lose tax ratables, purchasing the properties and knocking down the homes protects residents and the first-responders who must help them when the area floods.
