Appointed Official Selected to Represent 1st Ward
Richard Jasterzbski will represent the 1st Ward until at least Nov. 5. He replaces Alan Purcell.
Richard Jasterzbski was selected to replace Alan Purcell as the 1st Ward Councilman on Wednesday night.
The council selected Jasterzbski at a meeting Wednesday night. He was sworn in at the meeting.
“I’m sure you’ll do a good job. The residents of the 1st Ward are lucky to have someone like you,” said Council President Nadine Bello.

Jasterzbski serves on the Open Space Committee.
Purcell resigned last month, saying that illness forced him to make the “difficult” decision. He has battled emphysema since 2004. He recently began using a portable oxygen tank.

Jasterzbski will serve until Nov. 5. The county Republicn and Democratic committees must notify town clerk Paul Margiotta of whom they want to run in the General Election to serve the remainder of the term, which expires in Decmeber 2015.
