Annual Tunnel To Tower Run is Sunday

Event will raise money for wounded vet and 9/11 victim's families.

The township’s annual Tunnel to Towers Run will be held Sunday, Sept. 9.

The annual event raises money for The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports families with active members of the military.

Siller was a New York City firefighter who was killed in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Stuck in traffic, he strapped on 75 pounds of equipment and ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center where he was killed.

A portion of the funds raised , 22-year-old Parsippany resident who lost both his legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Kandahar, Afghanistan in July 2011.

A rememberance ceremony for the nearly 3,000 victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks will be held after the run has concluded.
