Featured Adoptable Pet: Gi Gi

Gi Gi came to the shelter with her kitten, which was adopted immediately, but she still waits patiently for her second chance. She is such a unique cat with beautiful colors and a loving personality.

MY STORY:

I’d like to introduce myself to you!  My name is Gi Gi and I was brought to the shelter along with my kitten.  My kitten was adopted immediately and found a loving home a long time ago, but for some reason I still wait in my shelter cage and I just don’t understand why.  I’m a good kitty with a sweet personality, I’ve got really cool colored fur and I’m well behaved and yet I've been waiting such a very long time at the shelter for someone to notice me.  When people come to visit the shelter I try really hard to show them how friendly I am and let them know how much I want to come home with them, but they just pass me by again to look at kittens.  But what they don’t know is that older cats can be even better pets because we are already house trained, don’t cause mischief and will be forever grateful that we were rescued from our shelter cage and given a chance in your home.  Remember, I was once a cute little kitten too!

In the meantime, the only option that I have is to wait patiently, as I have for a very long time, and see, smell and hear the same things every day, when all I really want is to be in a home where maybe instead of staring out through metal bars I can stare out the window and watch cars, birds and people and be able to cuddle with someone for awhile instead of just being alone in my cage.

All the shelter staff and volunteers love me and say that I would make the perfect pet and even they don’t understand why I’ve been overlooked all this time.  They tell me that there are a lot of cats to choose from and they do their best to comfort me and love me and tell me there is no reason for a good kitty like me to still be waiting here for a home, but I still feel sad because all I know how to do is wait and hope to be able to feel love in a forever home, not in a shelter.

Even though I’ve been so lonely and bored in my shelter cage for what seems like forever, I still hold out hope that someone might love me one day and I watch the door carefully every time someone comes in to visit and think that maybe this time its going to be the person that I’ve been waiting for to take me with them.  Please come to meet me and maybe you can be my long awaited forever home!  When I see you come through the door, I promise if you just give me a chance and stop at my cage for awhile you’ll love me, but not as much as I’ll love you for rescuing me from my shelter cage.
