Toys R Us Hiring 45,000 Seasonal Employees

Move comes weeks after Wayne-based company announced it would wave layaway fee.

Toys R Us is gearing up for the holiday shopping season by hiring 45,000 seasonal employees nationwide, CNN.com reported Monday.

The website said that the number of workers it will hire is 5,000 more than were hired last year. The Wayne-based retail company announced the initiative on Monday.

The initiative is the latest in a series of seasonal strategies the international company is employing this year. These include the publishing of a Hot Toy list and reservation program.

The company has also waived the customary $5 fee on layaway orders placed in stores through Oct. 31. Participants have until Dec. 16 to pay for their purchases.

All toys at Toys R Us stores and most items at Babies R Us stores are eligible to be placed on layaway.
