New Art Studio Caters to Parents and Children

Katty Cedeno wants the Fun Creation Studio a place where children and parents spend quality time together.

Katty Cedeno wants children to flex their creative muscles. Rather than spend time playing video games or watching television, she would like children to embrace creativity.

Cedeno, the mother of a Wayne Valley High School student, is the owner of Fun Creation Studio, a new arts studio that specializes in hosting children’s activities and parties. The studio, which is located in the Mountainview section of town, opened Sept. 3. Cedeno will host the grand opening Saturday.

“While my son was growing up, I saw a lot of kids who want to do something creative but never knew really how to express themselves,” said Cedeno.

Cedeno immigrated to the United States when she was 16. She opened a similar studio in 2008 in Pompton Lakes but was forced to close it down.

Students can work with paint and ceramics to create a one-of-a-kind piece. There’s also mommy and me and clay-making classes.

Cedeno wants the studio to be a place where parents can spend quality time with their kids.

“They can come here and make something that they’ll have forever and spend quality time together too,” Cedeno said.

Although the studio is geared for children 2 to 13, Cedeno also hosts activities for ladies.

“I want it to be a place where people of all ages can come and be creative,” Cedeno said.

The studio is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
