Family Opens Deli on Mountain View Boulevard

Pajazit "Paul" Menoski: 'I can truly say that this is my dream.'

Some people’s dream job is developing the next can’t-miss gadget, acting in Hollywood movies, or being a sports announcer.

Pajazit Menoski’s dream is serving others.

Menoski, who goes by Paul, is living his dream. He and his family have opened a deli on Mountain View Boulevard.

Menoski, who goes by Paul, and his family are Albanians who came to the United States from Macedonia. Menoski’s wife, Lu, and their four sons help him run the deli. The family celebrated the deli’s grand opening last week.

Menoski and his family sold Mediterranean food at a small grocery store in Paterson but sold it more than 10 years ago. Menoski would make Mediterranean cuisine at his home for his friends.

“People kept pushing me to make more of it but I needed more space so I thought, why not just open a deli,” Menoski said.

The deli is the latest business to open in the Mountain View section of town, a section of Wayne where several businesses closed down since Hurricane Irene and haven’t reopened or left Wayne, especially in Stahl shopping center across from the deli. A new market specializing in European food opened next door to the deli last year.

“This is really great location. There are a lot of people in the area who are from Albania, Macedonia, and other countries who enjoy the food,” Menoski said. “Normally, you have to go to Paterson for this kind of food. Why go there when you can come here?”

In addition to such Mediterranean staples such as Burek, Pleskavica, and Baklava, the family makes hot and cold sandwiches, and salads.

“This is my dream,” Menoski said. “I can truly say that this is my dream. I really enjoy this and I want other people to enjoy it with me.”
