Couple Opens Therapeutic Massage Business on Route 23

Wayne residents Ted and Zita Stratis opened Elements Therapeutic Massage in Riverdale on Saturday.

Ted Stratis wants to help people feel better and enjoy life pain free.

Resident Ted Stratis and his wife Zita have opened Elements Therapeutic Massage, a therapeutic massage business, on Route 23 in Riverdale. The establishment opened on Saturday.

“We, first and foremost, offer clients therapeutic massages,” said Stratis. “We want to listen to our clients’ needs and address them individually.”

The Stratises have lived in Wayne for 17 years. They lived in the Netherlands for six years when Ted was transferred there for work but recently moved back home.

Stratis learned firsthand the power of massage therapy after a stroke.

“It was something that the more I read about it the more I learned that there is a very specific process and technique for everyone,” Stratis said. “You really need to know what you’re doing or else you could make things worse.”

There are several therapy rooms in the business. Candlelight flickers off the dark stained wood walls. Music and low light in each one help people relax while getting a massage.

The facility is the newest franchise of the company’s nearly 170 in the United States.

The Stratises insist that therapeutic massage treatment is not a luxury and can be a necessity to a healthy lifestyle, especially for people recovering from an injury.

“We want to pair people with the correct massage therapist but in order to do that we need to listen to what their needs are,” Stratis said.

Massage rates range from $59 to $119 for first-time clients and  $99 to $199 for regular customers. The facility is located in the Riverdale Square shopping center in Riverdale on Route 23 North. It is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information call 973-850-5530.
