California Company Purchases Former Drakes Bakery

More than 300 people lost their jobs when the bakery closed earlier this year.

The former Drakes Bakery has been sold as part of a $62.5 million real estate deal.

Hackman Capital Partners LLC from Los Angeles purchased 140 properties, including bakeries in California, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, 3,400 trucks and delivery vans, and retails buildings where Twinkies and Wonder Bread were sold.

The Wayne bakery was one of 100 properties Hostess owned that was put up for sale in May after an auction for the property failed to attract any potential owners. More than 320 employees lost their jobs when they were laid off after Hostess filed for bankruptcy in November.
