SHOMREI TORAH’S SISTERHOOD GOES BACK IN TIME

On Sunday, May 15, the Sisterhood of Shomrei Torah, the Wayne Conservative Congregation, will be sponsoring a trip to the Eldridge Street Museum and Synagogue on New York’s Lower East Side.

There will be two tours separated by lunch.  The first at 11:00 am will be of the Museum that presents the culture, history and traditions of the great wave of Jewish immigrants that came to the Lower East Side.  The digital displays, described as “truly magical,” where visitors can explore the sights and streets as they looked 100 years ago, were the recipient of the American Association of Museum’s Gold Award for Interactive Installation.  The second tour, “Beyond the Façade,” beginning at 1:30 pm, treats guests to an exploration of the newly meticulously renovated 123 year old Eldridge Street Synagogue in all of its palatial Moorish splendor.

The combined cost of the tours is $10, not including lunch.  Transportation is by cars leaving from Shomrei Torah’s parking lot at 30 Hinchman Avenue, Wayne at 9:30 am sharp.  RSVP required to the synagogue office at 973-696-2500 or office@ShomreiTorahWCC.org
