'Literary' Nail Art, Old Tech Contest at the Wayne Library

Young Adult activity sign-ups for March events are now underway.

Sign-ups are now open for young adult activities happening next month at the Wayne Public Library, the library announced Monday. Check the list below for information about all of the programs happening in March, and registration deadlines for all of the events.

Events are open to fifth through twelfth graders. 

Duct Tape Roses with the T.A.G.
Event Date:

Event Time: 7:00-7:45 PM
Craft a beautiful duct tape rose with members of the Teen Advisory Group. Registration begins Monday Feb. 24th; Wayne kids get preference for sign-up availability.

Old Tech via New Tech contest
Dates: 3/9-3/15
Participate in the “Teen Tech Week” contest from March 9-15! Middle and High school students should use new technology to capture the best image they can of old technology. Submit your artistic composition of some “outdated” electronic device. Images can be in color or B & W, interpretive, in meme form, edited, classic or abstract photography. 
One entry per person; submissions must be tasteful. Attach in an email with full name, grade, Wayne school, and photo number tocordovae@waynepubliclibrary.org.  Winner will be announced Monday March 17th and receive a 16 GB USB. Winning entry will be displayed or published in various media formats.

Go Green for St. Patrick's Day

Join Heather, our Dietitian from Shoprite, as she shows kids how to Go Green for St. Patty's Day and beyond, in a fun, hands-on way! March is also National Nutrition Month. 
Students in grades 5-12 can sample the delicious healthy options.

Registration is required for limited spaces; Wayne residents have preference for availability. Sign-ups start Wednesday March 5th.

Teen Advisory Group Monthly Meeting (T.A.G.)

Event Time: 6:30-7:30 PM
The Teen Advisory Group is made up of Wayne kids in grades 6-12 who are interested in attending regular monthly meetings (with Eleana, leading them to be advocates of the library amongst their peers, to help with different library needs, and to share their voice here about Y.A. program & book related activities.

We meet once a month on a Thursday evening for an hour. 
Other pluses: get to know other like-minded kids, commit to volunteerism, AND get snacks & beverages! (Goodies funded by the Friends of the WPL.)

WPL Y.A. Chess Club

Event Time: 11:30 AM – 1:30 pm
Young Adults in grades 5-12 are welcome to play chess against each other. This casual gathering will occur monthly on a Saturday, in the Story Time room.

Registration required beginning Wednesday March 12th. Wayne kids get preference for sign-up availability.

Tech-help from Teens for your Electronic Devices (Sponsored by T.A.G .)

It's national "Teen Tech Week": get help from teens for your portable tech!

Adults:
REGISTER in advance with Children's Dpt. starting Friday March 3rd. Then bring your devices to the Story Time Room to get tech-help from members of the Teen Advisory Group, the WH & WV Nat'l Honor Society, and other kids.

T(w)eens: We need your expertise!
Young Adults grades 6-12 (in TAG or not) who are interested in volunteering their time and sharing their tech skills should contact Eleana to enlist as a helper.
