Boas, Pythons Coming to Wayne Library

A six-word memoir contest and Nerdfighter contest are also on deck at the library this June.

The Wayne Library is planning the following young adult programs this June.

Nerdfighter contest
Entries received: 6/1-6/5
Prize: Autographed hardcover copy of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Get ready for the big June 6th movie premiere adaptation of the bestselling Y.A. novel, “The Fault in our Stars” by John Green. One lucky fan will be chosen to win an autographed hardcover copy of the book. To enter, tell us why you’re the ultimate Nerdfighter, using 100-125 words, between June 1st and June 5th. Winner will be announced June 6th. 
The prize-winner’s answer will be posted on the WPL Young Adult Facebook page and displayed in the Children’s room. 
Open to Wayne kids in Middle and High School.
Include: Full name, grade & school, phone number (only to be used to notify winner). Submit printed answer in person or email cordovae@waynepubliclibrary.org

Six-Word Memoir contest

Prize: $10 certificate to Barnes & Noble
To celebrate the end of this school year, write a memoir about it…in six words. The winner will be chosen based on the entry that best captures scholastic life within 6 words. Receive a $10 certificate to Barnes & Noble. Open to Wayne kids in Middle and High School.

NJ Snakes/Boas & Pythons

"NJ Snakes/Boas & Pythons" involves 12-15+ specimens, coupling the local ecology of NJ Snakes, and the awe and splendor of Boas & Pythons in a fun, informative show.
Myths will be shattered as you learn about: Habitat, Local and global ecology, Predation, Genetics, Identifying snakes, Dual speciation, Captive breeding, Pet care.
Generously sponsored by Stephen Lengen, the NJ Snakeman himself!
Online registration starting Monday June 16th for students entering grades 6-12; Wayne kids get preference for space availability.

WPL Y.A. Chess Club

Young Adults in grades 5-12 are welcome to play chess against each other. This casual gathering will occur monthly on a Saturday, in the Story Time room. Online registration required beginning Thursday June 5th. 

Teen Advisory Group Monthly Meeting (T.A.G.)

The Teen Advisory Group is made up of Wayne kids in grades 6-12 who are interested in attending regular monthly meetings with Eleana, leading them to be advocates of the library among their peers, to help with different library needs, and to share their voice here about Y.A. programs & book related activities.
We meet once a month on a Thursday evening for an hour. 
Other pluses: get to know other like-minded kids, commit to volunteerism, AND get snacks & beverages! (Goodies funded by the Friends of the WPL.)
