Arthur Cuts Power to 2,725 Wayne Homes

Utility says Wayne is back online in time for the 4th of July.

Heavy rains Thursday caused power outages that likely threatened family gatherings and BBQs throughout Wayne this Fourth of July weekend, but officials say power is back up and running in the township.

According to the Wayne PBA, 92% of the JCP&L customers in Wayne lost power Thursday, thanks to Hurricane Arthur. The township posted on its Twitter feed Thursday night that that left thousands of residents in the dark.

"2,725 out of 2,961 Wayne JCP&L customers are without power," the town posted at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

"They have advised they have no idea when power will be restored."

The utility posted on Twitter that by 11 p.m. Thursday, 25,000 customers of the company's overall 35,500 customers affected by the storm had power restored. As of 5 a.m. Friday, the utility was reporting no outages left in Wayne on its online storm outage map.
